Welcome to another exciting year at Blobble University, where knowledge meets opportunity!

Once upon a time in the magical world of Blobble, a young, curious Blobble named Blinky set out on a grand adventure. Blinky was eager to explore the vast world around him and meet all the fascinating characters that called Blobble World their home. Blinky's journey began with his beloved owner, who understood the importance of keeping their Blobble well-fed, happy, and healthy. Every day, they fed Blinky with the finest food and drinks, showering him with love and affection. They even paid a small fee to ensure Blinky stayed completely satisfied for a whole week. **More than love** As Blinky and his owner shared their love, they discovered that their bond brought them more than just happiness. It also earned them BST tokens daily! The older Blinky grew, the more tokens they received. They learned that this was all thanks to the Blobble treasury, which was continually replenished with 70% of Blobble sales and 100% of Blobble feedings. One sunny day, Blinky stumbled upon a wise old Blobble named Sage. Sage explained to Blinky the secret behind BST tokens: they were backed by the stablecoin bnUSD. "Initially, 1 BST can be redeemed for 1 bnUSD, young one," said Sage. "And as more minting and redeeming happens, the value of BST tokens will continue to rise. The Eye on ICON node revealed that if Blinky's owner voted for it, they would receive 25% of the node rewards in BST tokens. And if Blinky was well taken care of, the rewards would increase by an additional 25%. It was a fantastic deal, and Blinky couldn't believe his luck. As Blinky ventured further, he met other Blobble friends, including the proud owners of iDoge and [16-bit Fight Club](https://www.16bitfightclub.io/) NFTs. These friends explained that their NFTs granted them an extra 10% and 5% rewards, respectively, from the Eye on ICON validator. The code that displays your unique Blobble lives entirely on-chain, there is no off-chain file storage involved. When a user decides to [Mint a Blobble](/bst-token-information/token-mechanics/bst-minting-and-bnusd-redeeming), the in-browser HTML code (enabling the display of your Blobble) gets exported and stored on the ICON blockchain. * Every time your Blobble appears on-screen, it has been pulled straight from the ICON blockchain. # Why must I approve the Orphanage Contract? To approve or not to approve? That is certainly not the question. In order for a user to interact with Blobble game play, certain permissions must be given to the Blobble contracts. For example, unhealthy Blobbles must be moved to the Orphanage. This would not be possible without essential permissions. Here's two facts about signing off on Blobbles necessary contract permissions: * Upon Blobble minting, a user automatically signs off on the necessary contract permissions for Blobble game play to be enabled. * When a user does not mint a fresh Blobble, but decides to stalk the Orphanage instead, this signing off on the necessary contract permissions must happen manually. # How do you counter game and BST growth stagnancy? ### **How to Counter Game Stagnancy** Users are incentivized to keep taking care of their owned Blobbles. This happens through the Blobble-specific issuance of BST tokens: * Older Blobbles earn more. * Unhealthy Blobbles earn nothing. **A Balanced Approach** If users feel that the BST rewards do not weigh up against the effort and/or cost of Blobble caretaking, they will stop taking care of their poor Blobble and it will become unhealthy. Seeing as unhealthy Blobbles earn nothing, this means that the poor Blobbles former daily BST rewards will now be distributed amongst all other Blobbles who are still of good health. * When 1 Blobble goes unhealthy, other Blobbles earn more BST for their owner. **A Growing Incentive** The BST token that a Blobble earns is backed by the [bnUSD stablecoin](https://balanced.network/stablecoin/) and [designed to go up](/bst-token-information/token-mechanics/bst-price-action). Healthy and older Blobbles earn more BST, which provides incentive for users to take care of their minted Blobbles and look for older Blobble to [adopt from the Orphanage](/game-play/how-to-adopt-a-blobble). ### How to Counter BST Growth Stagnancy The BST token is designed to go up. This is achieved by placing a 5% tax on both [BST Mints and BST Redeeming](/bst-token-information/token-mechanics/bst-minting-and-bnusd-redeeming). This tax ensures that the total supply of BST tokens grows slower than the total amount bnUSD backing each token. If there is no minting and redeeming happening, the price of BST stops growing This is why Blobble game play and Eye on ICON validator node reward distribution are closely intertwined with the minting and redeeming functionalities of the BST contract.
